Pushing Personal Boundaries: Ultra Athletics, Plant-Based Diets, and Authenticity
with ROBBIE BALENGER
SHOW NOTES
“As much as I run, to think of it as fitness, to think of it as movement, all those apply, but it’s really my practice. It’s one of the things that really helps me to be the best version of myself.” – Robbie Balenger
Robbie is one of the most inspiring humans I’ve ever had the fortune of speaking with. I watched the documentary, The Colorado Crush, and was blown away not only by what seemed to be what seemed to be one of the most insane physical feats for someone to take on, but also by Robbie’s beautiful, humble, and generous spirit. I’m in awe of Robbie, understanding the mental, emotional, and physical grit one must have to make it through such tough conditions, and the fact that he does it all out of a deep-seated sense of purpose, showing people how to thrive on a compassionate, plant-based diet.
Show Notes:
Have you ever wondered how one pushes themselves to run 3,175 miles across the United States in just 75 days?
Prepare to be inspired as we join Robbie Ballinger, an ultra endurance athlete who has not only achieved this incredible feat, but also the Colorado Crush. Robbie will reveal how he maintains a constant quest for sustainable motion, and how he utilizes recovery techniques and a plant-based diet to consistently break his own boundaries.
Robbie’s journey began as a beginner runner at 29 and has since evolved into a full-blown ultra athlete. Hear about his daily routine, the role of a plant-based diet in his performance, and his insights on the inclusivity of running.
The conversation gets even more interesting as we discuss the benefits of running for weight loss, and how a mindfulness practice and neuroscience technology aid in his meditation and sleep. Robbie’s experiences underscore the importance of staying connected to our bodies, and how this connection can lead to extraordinary achievements.
Our chat with Robbie also brings to light the power of community and authenticity in today’s world. Navigating the complex web of social media while staying true to oneself is a struggle for many, but Robbie has managed to balance sharing his life with his followers and maintaining his own personal space.
We also touch on the benefits of hydroponic farming and a particularly interesting comparison between the taste of tomatoes in Italy and those in the US.
Join us for this enlightening episode whether you’re an athlete, a runner, or just someone seeking a daily dose of inspiration.
